Dallin’s original subject line: I don’t know why I write something here since my dad just makes a better one up anyways. (For the record – sometimes I use his. But not today. :))
Last week was a tough act to follow, and this week ended up being relative calm. 🙂
I’m grateful. 🙂
Anyways, I left off last week saying that we had to go to the airport at midnight to pick up two elders from beira and drive them to their areas. SO. 🙂 We went and picked them up, and Elder Douglas and I went to Matola while the AP’s went to T3. We got pulled over on the way, and matola is kinda far so we didn’t end up getting home until 2 o clock in the morning! Then we had to wake up bright and early for Staff Meeting. Well, we must have looked pretty tired during the meeting, because president asked how much we had slept, and after we told him, he said we would go to Chinese and then we could go home and sleep and get all caught up. We all loved that idea!
Right about here, elder douglas started feeling sick. We drove to chinese, and got out, and then Elder Douglas threw up all over the sidewalk. (and himself). So we went in, and some how he managed to still eat chinese food haha, and went home to sleep! However, elder douglas woke up and threw up a couple more times, so we had to stay in the house for a while. Finally, later at night, he was feeling better, so we went out to teach Ernesto and Claudia, one of our couples that is getting really close to marriage and baptism. Well, Elder Douglas threw up in the middle of the lesson! It was pretty funny, but we went home and he went back to sleep.
Luckily, the next day he was fine and he has been ok since then. 🙂 We think it was just the crazy schedule. 🙂
The rest of the week? Was honestly pretty laid back! We taught some families, and we were able to open 2 marriage process!! So two of our families will be married and baptized in the next little bit. 1 on may 10th, and another on may 17. Plus, tomorrow we will open another one for a couple getting married in june tomorrow! We are seriously getting so blessed, I have no idea what it is. Its really almost not even fair. There are a lot of missionaries worker a lot longer and harder than us, and we just keep getting great family after great family! We are trying really hard to stay humble, and just be grateful for what we have.
We taught two new families, one was a reference from a member named Chevite. They are a young husband and wife, and we taught the lesson at chevite’s house with his wife celeste. It was a nice, simple restoration lesson, over in about 20 minutes which is what we aim for. Then we got to the end, and the member, chevite, started going OFF. Started talking about every major church here in mozambique, and why its wrong, and was talking about why we don’t baptize people under 8 and the gift of the holy ghost and how preisthood blessings work and then the law of chastity and the word of wisdom and stuff, just like literally spewing all this stuff out. He talked for like 30 minutes!! It was pretty frusterating, it was obvious the couple was overwhelmed. We left, feeling like the family had maybe been ruined and would never come back.
Luckily they showed up at church!…along with 2 other brand new families! One, was a man who talked to tualufo, our executive secretary who is mozambican, at a car shop. So tualufo sent his number to us, we called him, but it never ended up working out, he kept canceling on us, then we met him in the road, marked with him, but it didn’t work out, and then apperantly he ran into the sisters, and they invited him as well! So this guy has pretty much had tons of contact, and he came with his wife so that was cool. Then another family that Elder Douglas had taught last week with a brazillian showed up too. Plus, we had Joana and Krislerio, another new familiy. We had five complete families in total at church! Crazy!
Sunday was general conference! (finally!) I enjoyed it and so did all the ward members. It wasn’t really communicated well, aka the branch president sent out a text on friday night saying at saturday morning at 8 we would have conference, so there was a pretty weak turnout, but sunday was good.
I am literally having the time of my life.Things are going great. I can’t really think of anything bad that happened this week! I am pretty excited because it is the last week of the month and everyone is hurting on money but my budget is still holding true for me, so thats pretty cool 🙂
Sorry, didn’t take any photos this week.
But yeah. 🙂 Have a good week!
